Well, prepare for a long summer. Let’s see….Pelfrey goes every 5 days, yikes! That’s a lot of losses. Santana likely won’t be anything near what they state the hope he will be, so nothing there to get excited about. I guess his season will be considered successful if he can just make it out to the mound. Niese, will he even be on the squad? Gee, kinda fizzled there as the season wore on. Dickey, ok, I like what he brings.

Now, the lineup. Bay can’t hit, the new CF can’t hit, David Wright hits for a while then goes cold for a longer while. Thole, Tejada, nothing to get jazzed about over there. Don’t see a whole lotta run production here. Definitely not enough to overcome the starting pitching on a regular basis.

I guess the only fast start would be if all the other teams decide not to shake off the rust until May, and I can’t see how the Mets would come better prepared for a game than teams that actually hope to make noise or expect to play well into October.

Fast start for the Mets is a wet dream. There is nothing to have a fast start with. Just simlpy not going to happen.

Never in my life as a Mets fan have I heard so much talk about waiting for “5 years into the future” as if it’s all guaranteed. Never ever happened.

The only time I ever heard so much talk about the Mets future was when Generation K was in the minors and we all know how that turned out.

Just try and win, try and compete with whatever resources you have and leave the building of the minors to those who are doing just that. People worry about that more than the god damned major league roster now. It’s just stupid. You’re waiting for something that may never happen and then what? Huh?

And as for trying to compete with whatever resources you have (and I KNOW the Mets are broke so don’t nobody respond with that) Alderson, aside from the Pagan trade is doing an absolutely HORRIFIC job of it. He was lousy last year when he could have had better players with the same financial constraints and so far this year it’s more or less more of the same except for that trade. I would have preferred SP instead of Rauch and 12 million was too much for Francisco. We needed a Gm who can do a better job of that because any baseball GM can work with whatever money they have. Any GM.

You are predicting the outcome now for 5 season in the future? that is an eon in MLB terms.

ANd if you are basing it on the Mets/wilpons continuing to be flat broke, there wil be new owners well before 2016.

people didn’t come out last year to see reyes as a Met, why are they going to come out to see him as a Marlin?

Also possible that April is a good month to have the tough part of the schedule (assuming of course it means there is an easy part later on!). Early on, some SPs are not fully up to speed, weather plays a factor, some guys always start slow, etc.

Just seems like it is the part of the year most likely to have a not so good team play way over its head, or a good team to not play like it.

We can get off to a fast start as long as Met pitchers get a lot of strikeouts and fly ball outs.Every ground ball to Wright, Tejada or Murphy is going to be a thrill ride next year.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Sandy more or less got “free pass” last year, but the honeymoon is over. Met fans aren’t going to tolerate the small market (cheap) philosophy he used in Oakland. Since ’07 the Wilpons have continued to alienate their fans base. That’s too bad,

A fast start with this team as currently comprised is a pipe dream. We’re going into next season considerable worse than the the 2010 opening day team. In fact we are now in a 2 year decline quality wise. Two straight seasons of worsening the team instead of bolstering it. So as for 2012 or 2013-2016 for that matter, kiss any .500 seasons good bye. This guy thinks he’s going to be the first GM to build an all prospect and minor league team and win a world series. He’s warped.

I’d be thrilled if the Mets come out of spring training really knowing how to bunt!

Also, we should not show up to see the Marlins and Reyes. Why reward the Wilponzis for letting him go?
