Trading Parnell is silly with him earning the ML minimum and having a power fastball. Better to spend some money on a new pitching coach with the ability to develop his skills rather than letting him to continue to flounder under Warthen. Let him continue to develop his skills so he can replace one of the 3 newbies when it is time for them to move on.

What I dont get is how Jon Heyman connects the Mets to Pudge Rodriguez? Alderson was just quoted that he will not sign any of the free agent catchers on the market. In those exact words. He said he was going to have an internal option as backup catcher which I asume he means Nikeas.

to me, Parnell is not even the equivalent of a starting position player. He is like 5th seed in the BP. If you could return a starting player you would be doing all right.

I would trade Bobby Parnell in a heartbeat, really he’s been terrible and he has no guts on the mound. Instead of intimidating hitters with his heat they intimidate him.

We don’t really know if they were offered anything more than salary relief. Even if we only consider Pelfrey as a #5 starter, they have value in terms of cash because of innings produced. They may not be quality innings but innings none the less. So while it is difficult for us as fans to see him as only a #5, if we take a step back from what we expected and look at what we have, we have a youngish SP who has had some success in NY that will give you innings on a one year contract for an average salary. The return in terms of trade would have to replace that overall value.

Anyone know anything about this kid: Brian Jeroloman . He was DFA’d by the Blue Jays to make room for Kelley Johnson. He is a 26 year old catcher that has unusually high OBP results his entire career. His stat line in 6 minor league seasons is .245 .378 .347 .725 .

I find it odd that they won’t listen in on Wright. I know you need to have some one for the fans to root for, but not at least listening is silly. Unless this is their way of saying you would need to blow me away for us to consider even listening…

You are right I don’t expect him to play everyday but with Turner on the roster then Ryan would really only be needed for the 20 games that Tejada does not play. To me that would be wasted money.

at this point, i’d leave all those power arms in the bullpen.. see what can happen…
