Exactly. Theriot is a nice player, but there is no way that the bucks needed to sign him will be made available. There is no point in the discussion because it just ain’t happening. The team is virtually set with a lock on the cellar. Look towards 2020 before signs of the light at the end of the tunnel.

He’s a scrappy hitter, but makes too much money to basically be an off the bench kinda guy, either way, the mets cannot afford him, seem like sandy alderson HAD A GOOD DAY and we pretty much are set in terms of roster, wasting time on figuering out who the mets will get is not worth it…

Sure, RB, b/c this would be consistent with the Mets of the past five-seven years with their penchant for stocking the team with middle infielders and, especially second basemen. Who needs quality catchers or pitchers when you can keep dealing for middle infielders. Spare me…Theriot is not a terrible player by any means, but his value to the Mets will be more or less neutral.

All things considered, i think he’d be a good addition, I’d rather have him then Jack Wilson. I’m not sure why everyone is so down on this move I’m guessing it’s more a case of down on the Mets but we could def use a veteran middle infielder.

If it’s a case where if we sign him we won’t have the money for another starter then I’d rather sign a starter and sign a weaker middle infielder..

Well hearing this means that He is about to sign a contract with someone else.

Funny how every guy we hear about the Mets being interested in manages to sign with someone else mere days or hours after our interest is exposed.

I start to wonder if we are REALLY interested in these guys or know they are about to sign and merely SAY we are interested so it looks like we are trying to get players!

Kind of the way we were interested in Reyes and he was a priority but really wasn’t!

he’s due to make close to 4 million I think next year. I just don’t see them spending that on a utility guy. let alone spending it at all.

I always liked “The Riot,” He would be a great addition to any team. However, considering that the other teams looking at him are contenders, and he is 32 now, the chances of the Mets signing him (or him signing with the Mets) are slim to none…check that, the chances are none.
