Mets Interested In Bringing Back Chris Young
Joel Sherman of the New York Post says that the Mets are open to bringing back right-hander Chris Young on a minor league contract.
Young, 32, posted a 1.88 ERA and 22/11 K/BB ratio over four starts with the Mets last season before undergoing surgery in May to repair a torn anterior capsule in his right shoulder and missing the rest of the season.
Young’s agent ran into Corey Brock of MLB.com today and told him that he should be ready in time for spring training. Young has made just 22 starts over the past three seasons and it’s become increasingly difficult to rely on him for anything.
That said, in those four starts last season he looked absolutely dominant.

Minor league deals are like playing the lottery. You never win, but there’s always a chance right? Anyway, maybe we’ll get lucky second time around. If not, oh well, it’s a minor league deal.
May god take mercy on the comment thread of this post.
I see nothing but well reasoned responses and measured replies.
HAHAHAHAHA
ehhh….how much is this minor league contract? Without knowing the exact facts of how healthy he is I’d just as well move on because I just can’t trust him to stay healthy. I would have to know more details about how well he is
Mil deal with ST invite? I think that is basically a no lose, since it is pretty much just meal money.
In effect, it just gives the signing team rights of first refusal on him, and most of these guys just disappear in ST.
I think you have a better shot at winning Powerball without a Powerball ticket than Chris Young pitching in 2012.He’s not even a year removed from surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule. An injury that still no pitcher has ever fully recoverd from.
My God… please no…
Why not, it’s a minor league deal. What are you losing by signing players like that?
I think that if Young was offered the major-league minimum for a contract, I would not mind him bringing him back.
Repaired torn anterior capsule… hmmm. Can he pitch with his left arm since his right is certainly useless? The test will be whether he can hold a pen to sign the contract!
Giving Dickey a chance wasn’t too bad. Giving Chris a chance won’t hurt. Paying Santana to sit these past couple of years, now that hurts.
Well, they need not fear loss of velocity—he has none. He should have had this surgery LAST offseason and he might have lasted the year. When he was on the mound he was pretty good. He is a freak, a ball hider who knows how to pitch. No big whoop, no big loss.
