- Or Fred Wilpon was responsible to catastrophic injuries from 2009 – 2011 covering 2 GMs
- I also didn’t know Fred Wilpon thew a 3-2 ball 4 w/bases loaded vs. ATL in 1999

Those are not excuses, those are reason Mets lost – you’re a habitual second guesser and to actually put NO BLAME on losing when you had a chance to win on the field is simply an unrealistic way to view things. Yeah keep comparing our results to the huge market Cinncinati Reds. That says a lot as well. What’s next? Comparing us to KC? Milwaukee? Baltimore? Pittsburgh? Miami? Washington? Colorado? Tampa? Cause those are the only teams in MLB with LESS playoff appearances than the Mets since the Wilpon’s became a full fledged 50% owner of the franchise with not only the inherent advantage of being a huge market team, but also with the running start of actually BEING the defending World Champions, not to mention that some of the other organizations didn’t even exist for the first seven or eleven years of their ownership.

Talk about accountability on one hand and then come back with a million excuses on the other.

So I would not be surprised if their high bid was merely an attempt to block the others from getting Darvish since the cost to be the highest bidder is only paid if he actually signs with you.

With the Brewers losing Fielder and possibly Braun for 50 games, and the Cards losing Pujols, this move might make the Reds the best team in that division.

I think this is a great trade by the Reds, sure they gave up a lot, but if you want a good, young pitcher like Latos, you got to give up a lot.

Which is EXACTLY what you’re saying with your long drawn out manifestos. You’re saying they should have done things differently before those post season appearances and if they did, they would have won.

And that’s even CRAZIER than second guessing so i don’t know what’s worse – severe, chronic daily second guessing or making up fantasy scenarios about the way things should have been done before they reached the post season.

Okay you can go back to reassessing the last 25 years of what the Mets SHOULD have done now that you know they lost all their post season appearances and all their post season runs on their own and have nobody but themselves to blame for losing those important games.

I wonder if Jockety needed a couple of roster spots for something else brewing.

Overall this is a real opportunity lost for us though. I would have kept them both for at least half a year but if Grandal was available we really should have made every effort to bring him here. Our catching situation is not going away and is now getting more difficult to resolve.

Speaking of that SD has now picked up 4 of the best catching prospects in baseball since June. Austin Hedges and Joe Susak from the draft, Jose Ruiz the 2nd rated IFA catcher and now Grandal.

Now that’s how you attack a positional weakness so it doesn’t linger for decades.

Jon Niese 25 – 64 starts, 4.39 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 370 IP, 417 H, 123 BB, 315 K

Not saying that Neise is as good or as valuable as Latos, but he is a lefty, and as you see here teams that need it (and don’t just about all of them?) may just overpay to get it.
