Whenever asked about a player his answer starts off alluding he wants him but leaves himself an out that he does everything possible to make sure that out happens.

Instead of saying NO (which was given an expiration date) I would rather he tell the truth and say Maybe but probably not this winter!

As I said before and some of you have a very hard time understanding I don’t deal with fantasy scenarios.

When A GM has a template of what he wants to build with you go forward and build upon that.
I’m sure Philadelphia, St. Louis or anybody else goes forward with a plan. They don’t think about “well what if Tampa offers Longoria/Upton/Shields for Pujols (at the time) or Philadelphia doesn’ think about “what if SF offers Lincecum” for Lee/Howard/Brown.

You can prepare for those things – that silly world of “what ifs” is you and several other people’s domain.

There is not REALISTIC trade for Ike that would make sense for this team – Carpenter and Wainwright for Ike is a fantasy, and any trade like that will never happen.

Ike is young, has great power, and is a great fielder, so what we are going to trade him for? Prospects? Not happening – Ike would only be a few years older than those guys anyway, and has already has success at the big league level – So why the Mets trade him for prospects? It makes no sense.

Bayonne is now synonymous with obstinate. Please rise to a higher level. Please stop being Bayonne. Can’t you move to the Bronx or Queens or Stony Brook or somewhere else and leave the persona you have a “rockin’” there?

And no, I must state I am with you in that I don’t want Ike traded. But if offering him got you Wainwright and Carpenter, you do it. That’s pretty much what Alderson is doing. Seeing what is out there. If Ike only brings you back 2 crappy players, you let him blossom like the bearded wonder he is. No harm, no foul. Why is this so difficult to grasp? I’m starting to wonder if we here are supplementing couch time for you at a much cheaper rate.

You sure are having a hissy fit over gossip. I hope Ike stays and puts up those numbers you are guessing at, that would be great for all Mets fans. However, your obsession with a guy that hasn’t even played a full yet is as sick as your obsession on hating a guy because of the way he looks.

Ike Davis is as part of a template for a winning unit this team has. You have a kid that projects to being a 35-45 HR/100 RBI/.280-.300 hitter is an outstanding defender at 1B so what the HELL more do u want? That’s how you build. You do not build by trading kids who project to be stars for other kids who project to be stars especially when the one you have is showing he can do it at the major league level.
And yes that’s what i’m saying – Ike is a keeper, he has shown he can deliver big time under pressure unlike the so-called Faux face of the franchise who has developed a reputation as being a choke artist and and over-rated player. And if people …no wait…fans have a problem with that than i can’t help it if they dont’ have confidence in their ability to judge talent. The guy does a major choke job when the pressure is on, his fielding has gotten worse, his hitting has gotten worse and even if it was still good he’d still CHOKE when you need him the most, most of the time. And until this year the guy dogged it running the bases more often than Carlos Beltran ever has. I just don’t understand it. He’s the guy that should have been moved and Reyes was the guy that should have been kept. And Ike Davis is the one that will become the face of this franchise if he keeps up what he’s doing. The fact that he got hurt last year does not deter my projection of him because he would have had those numbers already up in 2011 if he didn’t get hurt

By placing the ‘THIS WINTER: he is saying he might forsee it sometime after the Winter!

It’s english and plain. and as soon as winter is over that statement no longer applies and he can trade Wright without making his previous statement untrue!

The INTENTION of the quote is to trade wright AFTER Winter not keep past it!
