I guess it's easy to just overlook the fact that Puerto Rico is part of the United States with Commonwealth status. Parenthetically, the constitution makes no provision regarding the definition of a Commonwealth.

Your not silly for making a comparison! Just prophetic in determining what the conversation will be in a year or two.

Just wait till the Marlins start winning and watch the apologists all start to use the Marlins as a fine example of smart baseball building (now that they have given up on using the Phillies and Braves).

Soon we will hear about how their way was the smart way to go, How they buit thier team from within and with the draft (ignoring the big signings that made them good) and how we should mimic their approach to team building!

Excellent article and it will be interesting to see how the divergent philosophies prosper as the new season progresses. The Marlins and Angels are now teams willing to invest in demonstrated quality players. The Mets are adopting the "search for value without spending" approach. It will be most informative to compare the records of the Marlins and Angels against that of the Mets over the next 2 seasons. Oh, but then, I almost forgot that we're not trying to win until 2014. So the comparison is a default to a "lose by design".

Too bad Mets fans still have to pay top dollar to buy a ticket to get through the gate. Guess I'll have to get a counterfeit Press Badge to get in to see a game LOL. All the players the Marlins and Angels have signed would be "eyewash" on the Mets. So any talk of a comparison in performance is lunacy. How silly of me to even think of making such a comparison!
