A Special Holiday Message…

As you know, Mets Merized Online was on hand for the Mets’ Annual Holiday Party, held earlier this week at Citi Field. It was a fun event and our own videographer, Jim Mancari took a lot of video and photographs while he was there – some of which he has posted already.

Daniel Murphy did a fine job filling in as Santa Claus this year, and there was a good time to be had by all on hand.

But did you know that after all the festivities were over and all the children, the players, the beat reporters and the bloggers left to go home, Sandy Alderson couldn’t resist donning the Kris Kringle outfit and sending out a Special Holiday Message to Mets fans everywhere…

Yes, I agree with Sandy, the Mets are going to well worth watching next season, although I suspect more fans will be doing their watching from home – but hey, I could be wrong about that.

With a revamped bullpen that some are already calling one of the best in the division, a leadoff hitter who is excited for the opportunity to replace Jose Reyes in the lineup and Angel Pagan in center field, the always lovable Daniel Murphy at second base, the healthy return of Johan Santana to resume his role as ace of the rotation, and the emergence of rising star Ruben Tejada at shortstop, 2012 figures to be not only an exciting year, but as Sandy said, fun to watch as well.

Carlos beltran in 2011: “we’re gonna surprise some people, and they’re gonna surprise us”
beltran traded, krod traded, mets tank, then lose reyes to a small market team when mets don’t even offer the best franchise a contract…
A bunch of mets players on 2012: “we will have an excited team to watch..anything can happen”
I am ready for wright to be traded, especially with sandy as the GM, and the mets to go 65-97… the 8th straight losing season for our genious GM

        I would implore you to cease posting comments like this right now. Why cant you just debate without resorting to these junkyard style comments that have no place in a baseball conversation? Every time I give you guys another chance you make me regret it.

Great post Joe D. The Mets may surprise many fans in 2012. They were doing well until the injuries. This lineup is very good. They lost alot of games that they were ahead in by the Bullpen. The new guys should help the starters and we could win 90+ games. Don’t count them out, all you who think they are not that great. I should be a fun year as Sandy says and the guys are all gamers,even Murphy with his quote that” he will knock Reyes into the outfield at 2nd base”We have a new CF player who is a good clubhouse guy and no one to mope (Pagan) to bring it down. Lets go Mets win the wild card, or maybe the division.
