This Is How The World Will End

I couldn’t help but laugh at the big fuss over Jose Reyes grabbing a bite to eat in Philly last night.

Funnier still was waking up to blaring headlines connecting Reyes to some clandestine negotiations with the Phillies who were covertly wining and dining the former Mets shortstop.

Phillies officials responded like this:

“That is such bull.” . . . “Absolutely nuts.” . . . “I haven’t heard that guy’s name mentioned in our offices in two months.” . . . “People can make what they want of it, but this is not a guy for us.”

Now that’s priceless…

The whole episode did have some added benefit for me as I was finally able to figure out how the hell the Mets news cycle currently works.

While the internet is great for Mets news, the need for some sites to pump up their site traffic on slow news days with garbage and trash journalism is shameful.

I think it was Rubin who broke the story. He did it tongue in cheek, but he overestimated the intelligence and sense of humor of some of the fan base.

Off Topic: The Hall of Fame ballot came out today and it is pretty yawntastic.
