I know this kids had some attitude problems, but he does seem to have a world of talent. If we do lose Reyes which will most likely occur, maybe Valdespin is the heir apparent as 2B and can provide much of the punch we lose with Reyes.

I also don't think it' a good idea to throw all the AA & AAA stats together without listing any batting averages or separating them because If I was a team looking to acquire a kid in a trade I'd like to know the complete story both in AA and AAA, apart, instead of throwing them all together.

Such are the times, sigh....

Watch video of Havens' swing. He looks a lot like (*ugh*) Chase Utley at the plate. As much as I hate the guy I can't dispute Utley's talent. If Havens manages to stay healthy (not as big an issue as it seems since his health problem was having a rib shortened that was too large and not a chronic muscle issue), he could be an Utley type of player. If he is, imagine if you have Wright sandwiched between Havens in front of him and Davis behind him. That's potent regardless of whether or not Jose Reyes is with the team (although it would be much more potent with Jose at the top.)

Great idea Nester! I'll start keeping a running list. I don't want to give too much away but I can tell you that Reese Havens is on the list, and has not yet been slotted.

1) you will never see Daniel Murphy at 2B again and why people haven't learned this by now is beyond me.

2) The author never mentioned Valdespin's batting AVG

AA - .297 AVG, 15 HRs, & 51 RBIs in 404 ABs.
AAA - .280 AVG, 2HRs, & only 9 RBIs in 107 ABs

So I can guess from their is OBP would be around 330-340 or since I know he Ks and Lot and doesn't walk much so he projects to be a 2 or 6 or lower type hitter. Unless he becomes a star-type player then he can be a 5 guy.

Big red flag is I keep hearing how bad a guy is. A wise guy who blatantly disregards and disrespects his manager and the game by not hustling is more than just "concentrationl lapses" so let's not sugar-coat it because his attitude can become a major factor.

Just something to be on the lookout for.

"...Chicago outfielder Alfonso Soriano picked up the ball and threw it into the infield where Milledge was tagged out".

That's two guys cut from the same cloth as Valdespin. Sounds like he's got that kind of talent but like Soriano and Milledge he needs to grow up and hasn't shown any signs of being able to do so.

Was thinking the same Des.

Speaking of Reese Havens has he been ranked on this top 20 yet? Also Pete, is it possible to keep a running list of you ranking in your posts? I think it will add to the context of what you're doing here.

Mack, I think you've overlooked the Mets next guy at 2B. His name is Reese Havens. Last year at Bingo, Wally Backman said Havens was already a major league hitter. The only thing holding him back was his recovery period. He's doing strength building and putting on weight this off-season to deal with that. He and Spin have a lot of upside.

There's no way Murph plays 2B again. He got wiped out at second two years in a row with injuries all because he has no clue how to position himself to make defensive plays. Bad idea.

If "what's his name" does sign elsewhere, Tejada will play SS, Murphy will play 2B, Turner will UT 2B/3B... and I think Spin will UT SS/2B

Another insightful article by Petey Pete. Thanks. Petey has captured the good, not so good, and the ugly about a guy who has a lot of upside.

Comparing Jordany with Lastings Milledge is a sobering thought. Milledge is still struggling to straighten himself out. He's played for the Mets, Nationals, Pirates and White Sox, with some minor league assignments too. He's now a free agent.

Here is a story about Milledge that's too good to not be recalled:
In a 2010 game for the Pirates against the Cubs, Milledge appeared to have hit his first home run of the season. However, the ball actually hit the top of the left field wall in PNC Park and bounced back into play. As Milledge rounded first base, the stadium fireworks were set off and the celebration music began to play. Milledge began a slow trot on the basepaths. Chicago outfielder Alfonso Soriano picked up the ball and threw it into the infield where Milledge was tagged out
