Mets Meet With Reliever Frank Francisco's Agents

Newsday’s Ken Davidoff said tonight on Twitter that the Mets met with the representatives for free agent RHP Frank Francisco,

Joel Sherman of the New York Post first reported that he believes the Mets would be willing to spend ‘$8-$10 million for late inning relief.

The plan being two sign two top relievers and then having them battle for the job with the loser getting the setup role while the winner becomes the team’s closer in 2012.

If true, it certainly shows just how much Bobby Parnell’s stock has fallen and how little confidence the front office has in Pedro Beato as a late-inning reliever.
