As a Sox fan, let me tell you that Jed Lowrie is a valuable and versatile backup, who should never under any circumstances be a starter. He’s certainly shouldn’t be worth an ‘A’ prospect, but it may take that to pry him away (unless the Sox view Mike Aviles as being that far superior)

Nah, I’d pass and put more effort into SP/BP. I don’t think the infield, with or without Reyes is nearly as desperate as pitching.

Another injury prone player who plays below average defense and can only hit from the right side of the plate….

I also read somewhere that lowrie’s home and away splits are terrible
(.368/.435/.556 at home versus .223/.295/.355 on the road in his career)

I haven’t seen him myself, but everything I read about him mentions his defense being subpar. He seems to be another Justin Turner. In fact, Turner is probably better.

Now, maybe if the brass thinks Turner is going to regress and start him in Buffalo, then, ya, I could see Lowrie as a super sub type. A switch hitter off the bench would be useful.
