The Nationals have such a good bullpen that either Collin Balester ( Righty) or Tom Gorzolanny ( Lefty) would be a great fit for the Mets in a trade for Pagan. The Nats need a low budget CF’dr and Pagan might be that guy.

Balester has a huge upside being a former starter but is doing well in the pen. His last 2 years in the pen have him at 3.63 ERA while ave. 9 K’s per nine innings and less than 3 BB’s per 9 innings. He has a wicked curveball to go with his 97 mph fastball. Gorozo wants to be a starter and with him being a lefty out of the pen or a spot starter he would fit in well with the Mets.

I just feel that the mets are being crazy at this moment. I’ve saying in other posts, don’t anyone agrees with me, just get rid of the wilpons, what have they truley done for the mets oragaization since they have this mets. not much at all as owners. Please do us all a favor. if you don’t want this team to be contenders and show to the mets fans you do care then prove it, once shut up and show to us u got a set and make our mets a winner or just go away and put the mets on the market so that someone will buy and turn this organization around. Do you think that any one who is part of the mets see these comments .

With really no one truly ready to man the position other than Pagan, shopping him seems a little silly, other than the financial issue… This whole situation sucks.

Who knows? Maybe if they trade Pagan, the Mets will just rush Matt den Dekker to the bigs to save $$$. I think the Mets feel that Matt can handle playing defense in the bigs and CF at Citifield and maybe the magic of Dave Hudgens in ST can make Matt a credible ML hitter especially vs. RHP.

I think both Pagan and Pelfrey are being shopped. The Mets put out there they were tendering both a contract so that both would have some sort of trade value. Although if the Mets trade Pagan, who plays CF and bats leadoff?

That’s me.

Count me as one of the people who thought he turned the corner because this was his worst batting AVG since coming back to the Mets. Before this year he practically kept on getting better and better. And while I don’t blame anyone for saying he should have been traded last year with his value at it’s highest, I’m one of the people that could’ve went either way but thought it was better for the Mets to hold onto him.

I NEVER thought he would regress mentally like this, I honestly thought he had learned from his mistakes. That being said I kind of feel the same way this year in that 1) Due to the Mets financial situation it may not be a bad idea to hold onto him because you just don’t know if he’ll get better again or 2) But if they can improve in CF then by all means include him in a deal. I thought Grady Sizemore would have been a decent gamble but if you’re gonna gamble on Sizemore than how much worse is it to gamble on Pagan again? You just don’t know.

If even Frank Francisco is going to cost 6MM per on a 2 year deal, I still say Sandy is going to pursue some sort of trade for a cheaper reliever that can serve as the Mets closer with Pagan and Pelfrey as the trade bait although if Reyes leaves Pagan is the Mets best option for a leadoff hitter.
