Carrasco i can see being kicked to the curb for holt. Paulino is needed at this point until they sign another catcher. Byrdak is decent enough for the role he plays, so he deserves a spot.

Where’s the best place to see who is on the Mets 40 man?

Unfortunately, Ratliff’s career is in jeopardy. After being struck in the face with a foul ball last ST, in a horrific fluke accident, there is some question about his vision. There is no way another team would take him until he proves he can still play.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if Robert Carson became our Jonny Venters? Two hard throwing lefties that had limited success (with identical numbers) in the minors as starters, with good enough stuff to get K’s. I’m looking forward to next season, regardless of Reyes.

I’m trying to stay positive and even without Reyes, next ST should be fairly interesting with Familia, Lagares, Kirk & Reese on the ML side of camp, maybe Harvey a non roster invitee and hopefully the healthy return of Ike and Johan instead of the lame, main storylines of Ollie, Castillo, Emaus and Boyer this past ST.

I agree Swede, I think Holt has the greatest chance of being snatched up by somebody. I don’t think he’ll be kept on a big league roster all year, but someone may give him a look-see in ST.

As I know many of the Alderson Causes All the Bad In the World may forget at times, the Rule 5 draft is a long shot and most teams will only grab a player they feel is worth a chance at a big league roster spot.

In my estimation the following guys are probably worth a shot in the dark: Jose De La Torre, Dylan Owen, Edgar Ramirez, Tobi Stoner

and maybe Allan Dykstra, Roy Merritt, Brandon Moore, Erik Turgeon, and McHugh

I wouldn’t say Marte or Holt are being kicked anywhere, I’d say the Mets are hoping they know their young players well enough and assume these guys are NOT ready for a big league assignment.

I’d say for the most part, all of these guys are long shots to make a big league club on Opening Day 2012.

Two tears ago Marte and Holt were top 10 prospects now they’re being kicked to the curb. Hope Wheelr and Harvey dont go down that road.

Carson was probably protected because the risk of a LHP being picked for a bullpen tryout is much bigger than for example McHugh who I find it hard to belive would stick an entire year on a 25-man roster.

Dykstra or Holt are the ones whith the greatest risk of beeing picked to me.

So far, the Mets have added more prospects or possible prospects – 7 to their 40 man roster than any other team in MLB. No way I protect Carson over McHugh.

I’m surprised McHugh was left off and Carson is on.Stoner and Holt are not surprising at all to me.

Wow, I thought they were high on McHugh. I figured him, Stoner and Holt would have been protected.
