Exclusive Interview With Original 1962 Met, Eddie Kranepool
With all the fanfare surrounding the cool announcements the Mets made about the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the 1962 Mets this past week, I thought I’d share my interview with an original Met, first baseman Eddie Kranepool.
Eddie of course was an original Met who began his career at the age of 17 in 1962 and played for the Amazins’ until the 1979 season when he retired after 18 seasons with the team at age 34.

Cool! Thanks for posting this!
Nice job on this!
SORRY; BUT AS “AN ORIGINAL” MET FAN SINCE OPENING DAY, 1962. I BELIEVE TO BE “OFFICIALLY” CONSIDERED AN ‘ORIGINAL’ MET A PLAYER MUST BE ON THE OFFICIAL ROSTER ON THAT SAME OPENING DAY DATE.
UNFORTUNATELY, DESPITE EDDIE’S ATTENDANCE @ THAT GAME AS A HOOKIE PLAYING HS SENIOR IN THE STANDS, HE MISSES OUT ON THE ORIGINAL MONIKER. THOUGH, I PERSONALLY BELIEVE HIS STORY IS MUCH MORE REPRESENTATIVE OF THAT SEASON’S TEAM(FAN ATTENDS OPENING GAME, IS STARTING 1B IN SEASON ENDING GAME.)
