Alou had 102 PAs vs lefties in 2007. He had 258 PAs against righties. If he was signed to platoon, he sure wasn’t managed that way.

Moises did precisely what he was signed to do!

Platoon! in 87 games he hit .341 with a .524 SLG and 13 HRs!

Sorry, but no GM in baseball that would have walked in the door and resigned Reyes off the bat. As much as we all love Reyes, and appreciate that he won a batting title THIS year, going into the season you are looking at a guy that has spend a fair amount of time on the DL the three years prior.

Some GM’s may not have even picked up his option last year, but Alderson did do the right thing and did that.

I don’t really buy that Russel…
I think in the end him and Wright are going to swing for those fences more and not hit many more HRs but lose a ton of BA instead.

We have FED the psychosis by moving in the fences when we should have been moving the MINDS to not try and hit HRs just put good wood on the ball and hit for high average. If they had the HRs would come with them because they would be more focused on HOW they hit it not WHERE they hit it!

Did he want to Evaluate or was what he did just VALUEATE Reyes and allow his price to go WAY UP for lack of showing interest when the price was lower?

If there was even the SLIGHTEST hint in Sandy’s mind that Reyes wasn’t really worth a lot of money then why didn’t he lock him up then before reyes had the chance to EARN and RAISE his worth?

I think all 3 are correct to an extent.

Gooden is right when he says the agents are trying to “get what’s best for themselves”. All agents do this. The question is if will doing this end with Reyes remaining in Queens?

Leiter is right as well about Reyes wanting to see what other teams are “offering” and the risks involved in allowing that which is why I am not as concerned with the both sides (Reyes agents & the Mets F.O.) not wanting to be 1st to put a number.

Cone is also right when he says there probably are other teams that “give him a better chance to win”. Sooner or later we will know how far both sides will go to getting a deal done. In my opinion both sides will have to give somewhat to get it done and I am of the belief that both sides will do so.

Wow… gooden didn’t beat around the bush, he went stright for the jugular… as i said before, last year sandy should’ve try to lock him up while his value due to injury was at its lowest. but instead he wanted to “evaluate” things.. but hey, look at it this way, as sandy had mention before “we get 2 supplementary draft picks for him”
