Yeah why can’t any team spend like the Yankees Joe?

Give a reason why they can and no one else can!

If you can’t come up with something good your point is not a point at all!

Do the yankees have first dibs on the gold at Fort Knox?
Do the Yankees have a special clause in the MLB constitution that says no team can spend more than them?
Do they have a print pres for money that no other team has?

Please enlighten us as to WHY no team can outspend the yankees and what they have that stops other teams from doing so!

And please don’t say because they are the best team in baseball because thats MY point not yours!

What type of person saves a Jose Reyes article from two years ago to bash him?= a Hater. Jessup sounds like he has an agenda. Maybe if Wright hustled a little more in workouts he wouldn’t have love handles, thus he might turn on a fastball a little better.

Willie Randolph pulled Reyes because he had issues with Jose. Randolph was fired accordingly the following season. The 2009 example was more Jose Reyes hate. This triple he should have had, was a double off the fence. It hit off the LF wall. Where was he going? Who hits a ball off the LF wall @ Citi and legs a triple? This is a DUMB FAN repeating media suggestions that Jose didn’t hustle. If Jose gets nailed at 3b, this quite stupid fan who saved this article barks that Reyes is “undisciplined” or plays unintelligent baseball. Maybe he didn’t hustle because there was no way he gets to 3rd? I remember that idiotic article. The ball was high off the wall but was a clean bounce. I also believe there were no outs. Maybe if Wright were a clutch hitter, there wouldn’t be a concern with Reyes “not hustling”.

so, they could have signed some good players without spending anything! I don’t know how anyone can defend the Mets last offseason after reading those guys numbers, and the fact that most of the Mets signings were either ineffective or were injured, and the few others were mediocre. – The Mets didn’t have a good offseaon no matter how you look at it.

Huh? Where did I say anything about big FA’s?

Every offseason there’s guys who sign CHEAPLY that play really good…..and there was plenty of them last offseason – the other day I counted 20 or so players that signed for under 2M last offseason that played really good baseball…..and there was even more that signed for a little bit more than that, that also played great baseball.

One of the first things SA said in his first press conference was there would not be any big FA signings and that many aspects of the organization needs to be revamped for the future success of the team.

That was/is not going to happen in one/first off season, not sure why that is such a surprise and has to be rehashed over and over and over again.

Look, I’m all for smart spending, but the Mets did NOT do that last offseason – Most of the Mets signings last year were either ineffective or were injured – Like Young, Harris, Paulino, Hu, Emaus, Bucholz, Carrasco, Bonser, Boyer, Hairston(hit .235, and spent over a month on the DL).

And all the others were mediocre – Like Capuano(4.55 ERA, 1.35WHIP), Beato(4.30 ERA, 1.28 WHIP), Izzy(4.05 ERA, 1.29 WHIP), Byrdak(3.82ERA, 1.41 WHIP).

That’s not what I’d call “smart spending”.

I don’t know what Reyes is willing to accept – do you, Alex? Don’t think anyone knows. I’m willing to bet though Reyes – just like any other big name FA – will be going after the money. It’s only going to take one GM to go over market value for us Met fans to be looking at Tejada playing SS come next season.

Thanks baby al. I’ve learned to never refuse help. I think you’re usually helpful. But I think you overlooked my point. Freddie has a legal obligation to protect the shareholders’ interests. This is required even if fans don’t like any of the Wilpon family or how Freddie is spending (or not spending) money on the team. Also, this guy Picard is likely an example of a cure that is worse than the disease.

Great to hear from you, baby man. Your arsenal the next few days may include snowballs. Let’s keep talking.
