What I am saying is that I like the idea. I think it makes a lot of sense. Bay hits lefties well but not righties and Martinez is just the opposite. Both have a ton to prove and maybe a competition for playing time will spark something in one of them. And, Martinez has to be protected anyway from the Rule V draft.

If they keep Heyward and are wrong, they cut him and move on, missing out on back up infielder.

If they trade him and are wrong, they just sent a perennial All Star to a division rival for a back up infielder.
