I used to get seats in the loge right behind home plate from my company and went many many times. Great seats, always available, parking included. Team was terrible. All you could do was extract what ever joy was possible. Trevino, Stearns, Mookie, Hubie, Oquendo, Swanie. Not enough.

I had season tickets throughout the Joe Torre manager years and had to sit through and pay for an awful lot of BAD baseball to keep those tickets and be able to get them for the 86 playoffs and World Series!
Maybe you understand why I don’t have a real problem with them rebuilding the Minors I just don’t want to sit through all those seasons of watching Pat Zachary head casing his way through games while we wait for something good to actually get developed!

That’s my all time favorite Met game from the 80′s. Incredible. People running off the train to pop into the closest pub and staying their for hours.

I taped the playoff games that year and a couple times a year I’ll pop it in and its still incredible after all these years.

I remember that he took like 2 VHS tapes to record it and we watched the whole thing again a couple of weeks after the world series ended feasting on a delicious lobster fra diavolo dinner and a six pack of Molsons Golden Ale.
