DO you know what debate means?

If you think some of your writers don’t bait people into fights by blatant and obvious name calling/disrespect, I suggest you’re covering their rears for whatever reason. If I’m shadow boxing, then you’re a rug that covers up an ugly floor that needs to be re-done.

Should I point out every little piece of baiting that goes on between some of your more disrespectful writers and the regs who disagree with their views? Perhaps you’re too busy patting your writers on the back? For the record, no one is “running around in circles” and what not. I’m being pretty direct. The one here who doesn’t agree, or doesn’t want to believe, is YOU. Give me a break, man.

Here’s a newsflash for YOU! Some of your writers don’t walk on water. Stop treating them like they’re God’s gift to the internet world of free reporting. Some do a fantastic job, while others are doing your site a disservice. Instead of focusing on guys doing well, why don’t you open your eyes to the people I’m talking about. Just because they all volunteer to write, doesn’t mean they’re pristine individuals.

You absolutely directed your comment to someone, our writers as a whole, and I feel obligated to defend them because of the amazing job they do sharing their opinions on the team they love without compensation. I will always defend them especially againsy uncalled for attacks and false accusations. That’s the least I could do for them.

I’m the only person who can ban anyone, none of our writers have ever asked me to ban someone. I already explained about why I’ve banned only six people in almost seven years.

I dont have to spin your argument because your argument has no legs. You mention Donal by name as one writer you have a problem with, but here’s a news flash… Donal has never been a writer here, only a commenter like you, but that’s where the similarity ends.

I think you need to rethink your strategy. You’re running around in circles and complaining about writers baiting you, yet you dont even offer and evidence of it, flimsy or otherwise.

I think you’re just shadow boxing right now.

And “facts” when it comes to debating sports is cute. People who use statistics to support their argument are not using any facts. They’re using their stats to form an opinion. Stats don’t make anything factual. They offer suggestions and that’s it. That’s reality, my man.

You’re going off track regarding my post. Once again, the WRITERS on this blog BAIT PEOPLE INTO ARGUMENTS. Then they turn it into a personal battle. When the posters respond, the complaints arise. Let’s stick to the topic, Joe. There’s enough spinning that goes on for you to spin my argument.

Let me get this straight. Writing a post that simply said Pedro Beato is underrated and then backing it up with logic and facts is considered baiting to you?

On to your other point, dull as it may be, in almost seven years (wow, I cant believe it’s been that long), I have banned six people from this site. Four were for racially charged comments, and two were for making derogatory insults toward women.

Is that something you have a problem with and do you think that type of behavior should be tolerated? Forget who the women were, and imagine if it was your daughter or wife or sister who simply came here to share a positive comment about their favorite player and then getting insulted and called names I cant repeat here… Is that okay with you? Can you understand why I felt the need to ban those two?

So let’s do some math: six-plus years, 365 days a year, 200-300 comments on average each of those days, six bans. And three of those bans didn’t even last a week. Yeah, I’m a real hard ass… If you only knew how much stuff is tolerated here as compared to some sites where you banned at will for simply disagreeing with an author.

You say people should be entitled to come here and disagree with each other. That’s exactly right and readers and bloggers have been doing exactly that for over six years. It’s one of the reasons why this community has grown to 10,000+ different readers who read this site every day. That’s readers, not page views which can top half a million on some days.

We are not discouraging debate here, instead we encourage it and welcome it. If you have a problem with debating in the civilized sense, than maybe you should direct your concerns at yourself and not at any particular bloggers or commenters here.

This is a site for Mets fans to debate about everything regarding the team, off the field and on, as well as anything else baseball related. That’s our reality.

Maybe it’s you that needs the reality check.

You need to read what you just wrote and heed your own advise. This is quite possibly the most Hypocritical post I’ve read.

The writer of this blog wrote nothing baiting, or mentioned anyone, did you actually read the blog?

He wrote an article, showed the facts backing up his writing, what is so wrong with that?

You come here, bait people in your response are incapable of having an adult debate and now have the audacity to call out others for doing what you are guilty of every day?

WOW – all new levels of arrogance now.

Instead of arguing, you guys should simply write and comment. If someone disagrees with you, stop acting as if the blog belongs to you. If you want to argue, fight and and stuff of that nature, STOP writing for the blog. As a writer, all you do is create an avenue where the average Met fan will not read the blog because it’s more a limited “community” of people who share A view instead of various views. Being a Met fan doesn’t give you the right to dictate how Met fans should think. If they think your views are “STUPID”, you as a writer need to suck it up. Crying to upper management because your feelings were hurt cheapens the site. Sure, it’s nice to have a board of respectable Met fans sharing views, but that’s not reality. People are going to have differences of opinion. That’s expected. What I see here is a group of “regs” annoyed because Alex shares his opinion in a manner that “bothers” the “regs” of the blog. Problem is the writers are entertaining the arguing. If you’re a writer, it’s your “JOB” not to ruin the blog by getting into mudslinging with the people who make this site work. If it weren’t for the visitors, there wouldn’t be a blog. The writers DON’T make this blog work. It’s those who visit and comment (the majority) who make it work. This isn’t simply a buddy list of Met fans. I’m sure there are a few hundred maybe few thousand who follow the site.

I started following the site to check how the kids in the minors were doing. It was cool seeing the reports come in from people who actually watched the kids play. This blog could be much better if the WRITERS stuck to simply writing articles and not entertaining arguments with site members, which leads to bans. If you can’t help yourself or can’t handle people talking back to you, you should check your emotions at the door or STOP ruining the blog by discontinuing your duty as writer.

When “Regs”/writers decide to dictate the type of discussions on a blog, the blog will not survive. Instead of a nice lawn, you will have weeds ruining it. That’s what the “regs”/writers will create with actions like the one above. Clean up your act, fellas. I won’t mention names, because the writers KNOW who they are.

You need to just walk away. For starters, I didn’t get you banned. Your actions did. Your discussion was with Kay when you got banned, not with me.

If you’re going to toss around accusations, be able to back them up. JoeD clearly stated why you were banned. And when you were, somebody (not me) replied Good Riddance!

I don’t know why you are obsessed with me, but you need to just chill out. It’s getting old, and I’m tired of it.

You actually got banned because you repeatedly were saying inappropriate things and then got in an argument with Kay and then JoeD saw it and finally cut you loose.
