Why didn’t terry allow Acostat to finish the inning knowing Parnell’s history?
Bad move by TC taking out Acosta, who at least has a plan when he is in there, despite the walks, whereas Parnell just throws the ball hard and gets either hit or walks the batter.

I would like to see them have a pitching coach who had a history of success as a ML pitcher. Wthern has a personal history of incompetence as a pitcher. That’s no way to start.

Of course, you’re right, but this is what makes the lengthy season so unbelievably frustrating for so many fans.

All in all, I guess I see the season more positively than I’m letting on. Given the Mets makeup, I think it’s obvious we could easily have lost ten additional games. This is a team that has never stopped battling. Wonder how many games we have lost by one run?

once the year flamed out, it became a glorified try out session. The FO got a long look at the guy, and certainly took notes.

I think that it also is another nail in the “warthen has to go” coffin. Even the few guys that did learn something new (like Parnell and his knuckle curve) had to get it on the side from another pitcher.

Does warthen actually know anything about pitching mechanics, different pitches, stuff like that? Is he actually teaching them anything?

That stuff we really can’t know, but based on the results (anecdotal evidence) it does not seem he adds any value. Really time to try someone fresh.

Parnell just can’t be the closer plan going into ST next year.
From what I’ve seen of him this season, he’ll be lucky to prove he deserves the set up role.

Well, 90 wins this year guarantees you play beyond game 162.

but honestly, there are probably 10 other teams that could say the same thing (we would have been in it if our pitching didn’t suck!). Along with a few like the Giants that could say it about their offense.

Parnell continues to be a suck-a$$ chump.

Were it not for mediocre starting pitching and a crap BP, no reason Metsies wouldn’t have won another dozen games in 2011, and that would have made us almost playoff-worthy.

Ugh!

Here’s hoping we bookend our season by winning the closer!

All I can think is it’s a good thing we weren’t fighting for a post season berth like the Rays and the Sox and the Braves and the Cards and we really needed this game.

So much Fail. But given the lineup and that BP, this loss is hardly surprising.
