RE: Collins – He has been great and has put some fight into the team. They responded well to him but the problem with enthusiasm is it gets harder to maintain over the long haul unless the winning comes into fortify the energy. This right now is my only concern with Collins and I worry that in two years if they are still rebuilding that the losing will make his energy start to wear on the players and stop working. I hope I’m wrong there but Human Nature is a pretty consistent and predictable entity.

RE: Pagan – The see saw has to stop as do the dumb mistakes. My guess is he will arbitrate this season and get one more year.

RE: Reyes – Don’t expect that .330 to hold up past him signing. If he hits .300 thats enough, I agree with those who think he is just playing for a contract this year. But hitting .300 is more than enough for a leadoff hitter with his speed playing a notoriously weak hitting position.

They need Pitching. Starters who can get past the 6th inning without giving up 5 runs!
Don’t know who is available in FA but if they DO spend any money thats where they should spend it.

Congrats on Take Five, I think it’s got legs. I liked Matt’s take on Pagan, and thought his biggest surprises were excellent! I think some other huge surprises have, of course been: Ruben Tejada’s emergence as a big league player, big Dude’s eye-opening performances, and Daniel Murphy’s potential as a hitter. Other nice, but milder surprises: Dillon Gee’s 12 wins, the development of Justin Turner, and Nick Evans into useful role players for this club, and lately, strikeout ace Manny Acosta.

But I would add that he shouldnt be an everyday leftfielder either. He should be platooned with Daniel Murphy who must have playing time on this team. He earned it. Give Murph another shot in LF his bat is too important to sit on the bench.
