Considering Beato was injured, he did pitch a lot. There’s a chance he could be a set up man for us. He does have good stuff. We will see what happens next season. He’s a New Yorker so I definitely have a vested interest and a longer rope for him than say a Parnell.

well, is ANYBODY surprise??? i like beato and i hope he does good, but let’s face it, there’s a reason why he wasn’t protected as a 40 man roster player.. sometimes is not about throwing hard, is about pitching and knowing how to pitch

Beato’s treated like any other pitcher and he’s not. It’s often overlooked that he’s never pitched above AA ball before. I think people who expected him to be dominant or lights out were just setting themselves up for disappointment.

I think it is quite possible unless he flat out wins a job in ST, purely on performance (not on rule 5 status).

heck, make him the closer in AAA and have him work on the mental approach along with his stuff 9shich he should be working on in the off season too), and who knows what you might have ready to call up by mid season!

Collins growing frustrated with Beato. Why take it out on him. Does he not get frustrated with Parnell? Does he not get frustrated with Bay? Does he not get frustrated with Pelfrey? Should I continue? I am starting to think the Mets could do better with a different manager for ’12. Oh I know . The Met fans are frustrated with the whole organization from the Wilpons on down. A guaranteed second lsoing season. For a team from New York this is beyond frustration, they have now entered “The Twilight Zone.”

There is a good chance Beato starts in the minors next year. That’s where he would have been this year if he had remained with the Orioles. He’s got plenty of ability but has to refine a number of things chiefly among them are his cutter, curve and change.

That’s what the minors are for. Ask Parnell

this was a dumb comment by Collins. He “got away” from doing what he does well? As in, he decided to not throw hard anymore? he makes it sound like not throwing a curve or something! I would say you could bet your house that if Beato could throw harder now, he would.

If he is that worn down, just shut him down and put him on an offseason recovery plan, and look to next year.
