Omar was brilliant when he decided to tap into the Hispanic community of NYC’s, which has the largest PR and DR community in America. Only a BLIND BAT doesn’t see that it was not only an intelligent marketing plan, but also shrewd because these guys can play ball! Why a previous GM didn’t try this same recipe I will never know. It was a perfect storm of success.

Latinos gravitate towards Latino athletes. If you can’t grasp that concept, you’re missing the boat, my man. I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with it. The Mets broke attendance records
and only posted 1 90 win season with a team of predominantly Hispanic STAR players.

Silly us, though. They all came to see Wagner and Wright play, lol.
We got worse after 2006 and attendance went up. It wasn’t until injuries in 2009 and smaller park lowered our attendance to 3.1M.

It wlll even affect who owns the team. Then we’ll judge the remedies. IMO, we’ll look back and laugh at our dilemma that wasn’t really a dilemma.

Reyes had a career season. This being said, let’s remember the views of prior front office and on-field personnel who viewed Reyes as a guy who did a lot of ‘walkabouts.’ Maybe he’s matured, let’s hope so. Of course the real test is when whatever happens is in the past. Then with his new contract, we’ll see if Reyes is the same guy. He’s a great player, but to lionize him and view him as hall of famer is premature.

Italians being the largest nationality.

So, while Latinos are a very visible and important demographic of NYC, they hardly “dominate” it.

And, we won’t even mention the suburbs.

Of course, all this is predicated on the notion that all Latinos thinking the same way in terms of favorite player. Which is wrong for so many reasons.
