Photo: I Have Seen The Future, And It Looks Metsmerized!
Here is a great shot of newly signed outfielder Brandon Nimmo and newly acquired starting pitcher Zack Wheeler, together at Port St. Lucie today.
Now there’s a Kodak moment for ya…
“Whether that’s a shift in emphasis, I can’t really say, because I wasn’t here previously. But we’re absolutely determined to build the foundation of this organization and create a player-development system that’s a true feeder for our major league team — and not just for role players, but also with potential impact players. That’s going to take a little time for us to do. It always takes some years to build. But I think I speak for our entire scouting staff when I say we think this year was a good first step.” – Paul DePodesta
We got a lot riding on thse two kids, and they both have very high ceilings, so I must admit that the future looks very bright right now. Yes, I know they’ve acomplished nothing thus far, but it’s great to have this kind of potential in our farm system.
Thanks to the NY Mets for the cool pic!

17 and 45, huh? Nice.
The real “Field of Dreams” Halelujah!
I’m on board with the new plan!
Finally. I wasn’t going to be a full believer in Sandy & Co. until I saw actual talent selected, signed and wearing Mets uniforms.
From my early days in the NY Times Forum as “Binky” to the present day, I have espoused the wisdom of building from within. Both of our World Series Champion Teams were primarily built from within.
I know that I speak for a lot of Met fans that we always were willing to be patient as long as the Front Office did it the right way.
The glass is half full and rising.
“They call me Mr. Binks!”
And a hearty “Hello” to my brother in Australia, tlagee!!!
