Mike Baxter Could Replace Reyes On Roster If He Goes On DL

According to Adam Rubin, if the Mets place Jose Reyes on the DL before tonight’s game against the San Diego Padres, outfielder Mike Baxter will get the call to replace him on the roster.

The 26-year-old Baxter was claimed off waivers from the San Diego Padres on July 22nd on the recommendation of Paul DePodesta.

Baxter has played played first base in the minors, and in 11 games with Triple-A Buffalo was hitting .256 with a homer and five RBIs.
