I wonder if that’s simply because in sprinting to first he begins from a “start”position. In another words, if he doesn’t pull something early in his accelerating, then he’s unlikely to pull it as he clicks into fifth gear (?). Maybe that’s just the nature of hamstring pulls.

Yeah, I agree with moving Bay down until he figures it out, which could be in two years or until he gets traded to another team.

funny you mention doubles and triples, jose has injured his hamstring twice this season trying to beat out 2 INFIELD hits.. never rounding 2nd to go to third or to stretch a single into a double.. amazing how injuries can happen

It is hard to corral a mustang that plays at one speed.
What do you tell Jose to do when the ball goes in the gap, stay at 2b?
It is hard to tell him to take it easy trying to beat out a bunt or infield ball because he might hurt himself?

How and in what situations do you tell a player like Jose to turn it down a notch on this play vs a different play?
Hopefully he is aware of this and on certain possible triples, he will stay at 2b on the un certain ones but then when he is rounding 1st, has the play in front of him and his mind tells him, you can make it to 3rd, how to you regulate that?
Hoping for an injury free Sep for Jose and Mets.

this is one thing in the game i noticed and bob ojeda pointed out as well,jose reyes was out there running hard and not thinkimg hammy or injury, just playing the game the right way, of course i love it, but that can also be dangerous, playing reckless leads to injuries as well and that can be good, imo, someone should tell him, we love the way you play, but do it more carefully, but when you know one speed, which is fast in his case, is tough to change your ways..
go mets either way..

I think Mets players owed R.A. this win, he has been the ultimate professional when the team blew games he left with the lead.

Hopefully this is the Gee we see the rest of the season, Rookie Pitcher of Year in NL?

Team looked fresh, despite the lack of hitting but until Bay starts to hit then the middle of the order will lack any production.
I say they move Evans into Bay’s spot and move Bay down to 6th or 7th until he figures it out.

I’m so proud and happy for Evans who is finally getting some consistent at bats and not being yanked around like Jerry Manuel did with him.
He has shown some power and if not part of team next year a good piece to have in AAA or part of a trade for a good reliever.

Glad to see David come through with 2 outs and Jose at 3rd, this has to happen more so that he can close the season on a roll going into 2012.

I’m convince, again, that Terry Collins is the reason this team has endured much injury and lack of consistent player contribution because he tells everyone they are important and holds all players accountable.

Glad to see Parnell close out the 9th with that nasty slider to LoMo despite the HR.

I don’t think Parnell was credited with the save in game 2. He started the 9th with a 4 run lead.
