An awful lot of 2B will depend on what happens with Reyes. If we resign him then, as it stands right now we'll have 6 other guys on the 40 man roster capable of playing 2B to varrying degrees next year or soon after. Tejada, Valdespin, Murphy, Turner, Satin are alrady on it and Havens will have to be added or we'll certainly lose him to the rule 5. Tejada and Valdespin can also serve as backup MIers but not as SS's IMO and Murphy, Turner, Satin can be utility guys as well but along with Lutz that's just too many 1B/2B/3B types.

Same holds true with our 1B/LF guys. Duda and Evans and other corner OF's Fern, Bay and Lagares who needs to be protected this year. CF, 4th and 5th OF types like Pagan, if retained, Pridie, Niewenhauss needs to be added. Mejia and Armando Rodriguez, Nickeas are currently on it as is Stinson who'll go but there are a lot of guys that decisions need to be made on or we'll lose some of them and next year it's even worse.

It's not like back in 2006-2010 we could protect everyone even if there was a logjam at certain positions.

Rickey, let's hope 'Red' doesn't decide to fulfill your dreams as HR from #2 hitter are gravy, not meat & potatoes, I'd much prefer he settles back to raking singles with RISP, than swinging for distant stars, fences, whatever.[see Pagan as perfect example]

We DO NOT have a HR park or lineup file this one under A for aberation, trying to replicate would be dismally abhorant.
TURNER, BAY, THOLE which of these does not belong in the set?

Corect answer...BAY. he's hiostorically proven HR hitter.

Let's remember, singles hitters swinging from their heals = many, many easy outs & a very long losing streak. Bases loaded 2 outs, a granny is great driving in 4; but back-to-back,back-to-back singles are better spread the RBI wealth around! Tose same players, ALL swinging for the HEADLINES likely strand 3 with Ks or pop-ups & a lot of head/crotch scratching. The single shot granny is demoralizing to the opposing pitcher, the merry-go-round rally, destruction of confidence... While the singleshot causes pitcher whiplash, the ,merry go-round creates a potential permanent tick, lol

I don't think they are committed to anyone at this point, other than Wright (and Reyes of course if he comes back). Ike most likely if he makes it back. But beyond that, everything is up for grabs.

easily can see ST battles for at least 3 spots (CF, RF and 2B). Catcher could be new. LF if they can unload bay.

Ive been disappointed in JTurners home run output as he's hit double digits in the minors so today gives me more hope. If you look at just his numbers, you'd think his physical statue is more the LCastilla/RTejada type but he's built more like a linebacker. It sounds like the Mets are committed to Turner as their everyday 2nd baseman next year, I'm not sure where this leaves DMurphy next year I'd still prefer a platoon situation with them and I guess Murph will be in the RF mix..anyway I hope Turner can keep it going
