Mets Kidcaster Was A Big Hit
On Monday, SNY announced that 11-year old Jacob Resnick had won the network’s popular Kidcaster Contest presented by New York’s 529 College Savings Program and that Jacob would appear in the SNY broadcast booth on August 2nd to help call a half-inning in the Mets-Marlins game.
Well, the Mets lost the game, but young Jacob was a hit in the booth with Mets announcers Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling. Here he is calling the Jose Reyes game-tying homerun.
Pretty awesome, huh?
Great job by Jacob Resnick, a huge Jose Reyes fan, who was very organized and came prepared for whatever would occur. He knew the state of the Mets and where they needed to improve, and he was no slouch went it came to Mets history as well.
Later during the evening SNY would re-play the broadcast and you could hear the warm remarks from Gary, Ron and Keith.
This is the third year of the Kidcaster Contest, and I’m looking forward to more moments like this.

“Jothe Reyeth!” haha. Look out Gary, he’s coming for your job.
LMFAO!!!!! CLASSIC!!!!! he’s spitting all over the booth!!! he must’ve been thrilled man.. glad to see that..
You’ve gotta love a kid like Jacob – he looked so professional with his papers, books et.al, but when the time came – so quickly – he was surely in his element when he made the Jose Reyes call and continued with the further play that followed.
We’ll be looking for you in the near future, Jacob -good luck, you’ve got a great head start.
I know the irony will be steeped deep here, but the one enjoyable thing about getting your tooth drilled on a Tuesday night is sitting in the dentist chair and listening to this kid call the Jose Reyes HR.
the cool part is that his call was #1 on Sportscenter’s Top 10, I hope Jacob got to see that!!
Great job by the kid. Most game callers should take a lesson. No goofy catch phrases, no extra theatrics. He just described the moment and let his natural personality shine.
Jacob,
That was a wonderful call. I sensed that came right from the heart. It’s obvious you are a true Met Fan.
When I was your age, I wanted very much to be a disc jockey. I set up a “broadcast booth” in my room. I had my Phonograph (Record Player) and many 45′s to spin.
I followed my dream to College and broadcast for real to the school and the airwaves.
I’m telling you this because if you enjoy it, Follow a dream and Make it Happen!
