Trading 2 young, productive members of the ’86 WS winner dealt away for a 2B whom they tried to put in CF. Given the problems these two have had this year, when they should be older and more mature, makes me think maybe Cashen knew what he was dealing away: TROUBLE. As immature as these two have been this year, how bad were they back in their Mets days as 20-somethings with all the vices and temptations offered to professional ballplayers? Sad to see how badly Dykstra has sunk into this mess he created. Fraud, grand theft, indecent exposure, financial problems…….but this is his mess, he created it and he needs to stay behind bars. As he is now, he is unfit for society.

The guy was a thug and has always been a troublemaker and a drug user. @Metfan Lou, uh yeah it belongs on a Mets fan site because he was a former (and famous) Mets player. Your argument makes no sense. Most baseball fans have this thing called a memory that they use to remember former players. Everyone remembers Nails, even those of us who were kids when he played. Considering that the Mets won the World Series while hopped up on drugs the whole time, it seems right to show them in their uniforms when they get in legal trouble, even decades later.

His mug shot would be better, I know writers did the same thing with Gooden and Strawberry, but that didn’t make it right either. We don’t need to hear about this guy anymore! The guy is now 48, most Met fans don’t even remember this guy.

I cannot believe the trouble he has gotten into and up to now how he has avoided jail. It seems like only yesterday that his “financial success” was a segment on Real Sports and he was being lauded as a genius in the business world. I guess he fooled lots of people but it looks like his ego and aura of invincibility will be his downfall!
