there is no chance there are any GMs left that care about pitching wins. trust me, they want to sign the guy with 1.98 ERA even if he us 1-13. wins are a team stats and are completely irrelevant for pitchers.

perhaps there are some managers and coaches out there that are are sill mrons and think pitching wins matter. but like i said, nobody who actually understands the game cares about pitching wins.

People caught too caught up in his feel good story last year. I’m glad he’s on the team, but he’s a back end guy, maybe a long relief/spot starter

Whoever said Dickey was a 1 or 2 starter anyway? As a 4 or 5 starter he’s great. All he needs is normal run support, and big league adequate defense behind him and he’s a winning pitcher. Nobody ever said he was Don Drysdale.

Xtreem’s point was that chris Young came here for little money and whether you like it or not he pitched very well before getting injured. As you probably saw last night, Young is rehabbing and not retiring if he can heal.

With that said, its also likely that the Mets would have an inside track to not only signing Young but signing him for less $ than they did this year. His cost per performance could be a great pls for the Mets.

It’s the same exact scenario as Capuano. If capuano got hurt you’d laugh at the signing. Instead we all acknowledge for what they paid Capuano, they have already received back in performance.

He’s not saying sign Young and call it a day. He’s saying they need to offer him a deal because it won’t HURT the Mets to sign him because it won’t clog $ up and they can still look to make other moves.

I understand this concept of the business of baseball may go beyond you, but the truth is…signing Chris Young to a similar deal along with incentives for performance does no harm to the Mets.

for me it was, it proved to me when you said that how little you know about baseball, the mets, and baseball again.. that man will prob retire and yet you claim for the mets to be their #1 priority… i mock you for not knowing baseball, and yet claim (as many others) to know baseball here in this blog..

The fact that he gives his team a chance to win is just as important as wins, remember King Felix in Seattle last year.
Not saying same type of pitcher but same bad luck on bad team.

Pitcher wins mean so very little. He’s pitching well, that’s all that matters.
