I’ll always watch my Mets in Sept though I may be disappointed in their progress they are my team, good or bad.

I always like to watch the development of the young players, especially pitchers, as I enjoyed Dillon Gee when he first came up; hopefully he finishes strong.

Supporting the “watch-the-Mets-in-September” thesis, Tyler Kepner has a nice piece in today’s Times about what kind of baseball the Mets have played till this point. Overall, I really think Collins was the right man for the job, and I hope he has greater success on the road to competition.

Bayonne, I am beginning to swing more toward your assessment about the injuries. Losing does not always bring out the best assessment in me. Emotions sometimes trump analysis.

Actually Havens is not a solid defender.Not a liability like a Daniel Murphy but definitely not a solid glove.Taking him in the 1st round over Jake Odorizzi was a huge mistake.Once Jake makes the Royals rotation you’ll see for yourself.I would syill love to slap Omar for that one.

I don’t want to be a spoil sport but I just did a quick comparison between Jason Bay and Lucas Duda – which I know has been a topic here.

Forget the comparison because its irrelevant to what I saw on Jason’s stats’ page.

Look at his last ten games. He has batted .053 with 2 hits in his last 38 abs and one rbi. So much for him stepping up after Beltran was traded.

I would like to see Havens up for 2B duty. Out of all the options, he is probably the best combo of talent, potential, readiness and O and D. the dude can flat out pound a baseball, and is a solid defender.

You also forgot #6 on the list. I like to watch baseball, and the Mets are the team I root for, and after September they won’t be any Mets to watch (in games that count) for 6 months.

An out of the running Met season is still better than no baseball at all!
