Alderson: Mejia Won’t Be Ready Until Well Into 2012

Tough news on Mejia, no doubt… But typically, recovery time for Tommy John surgery is 12-15 months, so not a real surprise.

Shouldn’t be surprised about Mejia. No reason to rush him, let him take his time. Will be watching the Stephen Strasburg return next week to see how that goes. 12 months from surgery back to a Major League mound. For his sake I hope the Nationals aren’t rushing him back just to put fannies in the seats. No one knows if his previously awesome stuff will come back. If I had an arm like Stasburg I’d be more conservative with him than this.

well, i was thinking 2013 with mejia anyways.. it’d be cool to have him, familia and harvaey at the major league level together.. 2013 our rotation can consist of mejia, harvey, familia, niese and santana (if not traded).. then in 2014.. most likely the same except WHEELER will be replacing either niese or santana..

  What about Gee and Dickey. They need to be in that mix or do you think they’ll be gone? You didn’t mention Big Pelf, any reason for that? I think Santana’s career will be just like Pedro Martinez where he lost velocity and never did make it back. I personally don’t count Santana in the mix anymore. Anything good he does will be a bonus.
