I think the bigger problem is people being concerned with “stars” over All Stars. What if that Dirk Jitters guy wasn’t one of the best players at his position, but was elected because his team’s marketing machine (which includes the BBWAA) made sure everyone heard about him every day? What if there were 3 or 4 better guys at his position?

I do, however, agree that if you are elected, you should at least show up and tip your cap or something. If you are injured or can’t make it for some other reason, then make a video or something thanking fans that voted you in they can play during intros or something.

when ppl are complaining that a 270 short stop needs to be there it tells you what this game has become.. more names than numbers.. rolen? really?? martin, league.. correia.. lmao.. wow.. but take in account that there’s plenty of them hurt? not 1 SS is deserving to be an all star, but reyes is hurt, you have no choice but to plug in the next guy. overratedwitzxki and his 270 avg did the trick

I totally agree with this Ed. The All-Star Game this year isn’t really an all-star game. You got people who were either voted in making excuses not to come, or guys that “want a break to rest and get back to playing”. That crap isn’t going to cut it.

If the fans voted you in, regardless of if you dropped out of the game or not, you need to show up. Otherwise the fans are not going to vote for you, or vote for anyone into the Game because they will get the assumption that they are too good for the game or something.

Jeter is the prime example of this. IDC that he needs rest after getting his 3,000th hit. He needs to atleast show up and support his teammate(s) like Jose is doing. Now that is what i call being respect, and supportive.
