I love the Mets and like this Mets club, but if I hear “since we started 5-13″ one more time I’m going to scream!! Those games counted too! Our Mets got whupped by Colorado and pounded by Atlanta, all the while whining about schedule. And guess what, because of that we’re six back off a playoff spot, and the team in front is hotter than us. I’m hoping for the same great second half everyone else on this site is hoping for, but perspective is necessary. This is the same team that despite all the great feelings has swept a grand total of one 3 game series so far this year. That might get it done in the West divisions, but this is the Big Boy Big Market East, and we’re not playing like we belong.

That Satish, They have been so much fun to watch. Lately i have missed some games due to work and when I pull up the box score or put on the radio riding home I have to do a double take when I hear the score!

There are only 2 teams with better records than the Mets since their 5-13 start and that’s the Braves and the Phillies. That’s a good enough sample for me so i’m just interested in what we can do to STAY in the race and contend, not that OTHER crap that so-called fans just love to sink their teeth into. But of course that’s the easy thing to do.

I listened to that Kult of Personality podcast last night and it was an absolute abomination. Not only was the production terrible and grade school level and at times they sounded like they were all hanging out at the diner making jokes but all they talked about was who to trade, budgets that have nothing to do with their own money as if it mattered, and who to sell.

It was a disgrace. You would NEVER have known how well the Mets were playing by listening to that cast of characters. No talk of what to do to stay in the Wild Card race, no talk of Jason Bay and what it means for the team if he turns it around and stuff like that. Maybe they mentioned the wild card for like 2 minutes but the rest of the time all they did was talk about trading Carlos Beltran.

It was awful.

“We should not focus on all the negativity, lets just live in the moment an enjoy the fact that we are in a race for the wild card today. We can worry about all the negative aspects if this team starts to falter again, or when the trade deadline comes. But, for now lets just continue to enjoy Reyes sliding into 3rd, Dillon Gee pitching another gem and Jason bay making another great catch in left. You never know how long it will last!”
