What If Johnny Damon Were Derek Jeter

Earlier today, our very own Annie Savoy posted a piece on Derek Jeter after he reached a significant milestone yesterday.  While we’re on the topic of Derek Jeter, I felt the need to chime in on the matter.  Therefore… We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog on the Mets to bring you this PSA (pretty solid argument).  In case you’re that guy in the Geico commercial who lives under a rock, let me announce to you [...]

Izzy Asks Alderson Not To Trade Him

According to the New York Daily News, Izzy has asked Sandy Alderson to not trade him.  When asked about being traded, Isringhausen said this. I have two places in my hear; St. Louis, because I’m from there, and New York, because this is where I started. Those are my two favorite spots, and I don’t think I’m going back to St. Louis anytime soon. And I love it here…To be able to get close, or [...]

Giants Rocked Us Like A Hurri-Cain, Mets Fall 4-2

mike pelfrey

Mike Pelfrey went a quality six innings, but the Mets defense didn’t do him any favors and the offense didn’t either in their 4-2 loss against the Giants Game Notes Mike Pelfrey had a quality start today, and if it weren’t for the third inning the outcome of this game could’ve gone in another direction all together. Pelfrey went six innings and allowed two runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out five including [...]

Alderson Likes Ike’s Chances, Will Begin Baseball Activities

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Ike Davis, who has been hobbled with an ankle injury, will begin baseball activities next week. Ike Davis actually ran bearing his full weight on flat ground, not on a treadmill, on Saturday in his native Phoenix, GM Sandy Alderson said. So far, Davis’ injured left ankle has responded well, prompting Alderson to suggest Davis will begin baseball activities this weekend in New York. Only three weeks [...]

Prospect Spotlight: Jordany Valdespin, SS/2B

Jordany Valdespin got a late and usual start to his career, but that hasn’t prevented him from from becoming a top prospect. As most Latin American prospects sign and get their career underway at 16-years-old Valdespin did not until he was 19. He signed in June of 2007 for an unknown amount, which was probably next to nothing, considering the Mets reasoning for signing him was they needed to fill a roster spot for their [...]

Mets Push K-Rod Trade To Yankees

Krod rodriguez

From the latest news on K-Rod according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports,  apparently Sandy Alderson has put out more then a feeler for K-Rod, and the Yankees response wasn’t a rejection, but rather a “call us closer to the deadline” move. While they would be willing to pick up the salary of K-Rod, the Yankees would be expecting to get K-Rod for pennies on the dollar as a classic salary dump. While this was [...]

The Captain, Derek Jeter

For those who missed it -for whatever reason – do yourself a favor and find a tape of the Yankee/Tampa game played at the Stadium yesterday in the afternoon. Then play it and watch carefully – you will learn more about baseball than you think. It is an example of how to play the game right as you’ve been playing it for 17 years. That’s Derek Jeter. The one who made history yesterday afternoon and [...]

Mets Farm Report: July 9th, 2011 – Cory Vaughn Goes Justin Turner

Buffalo Bisons 0 – Pawtucket Red Sox 2 This was a beautifully pitched games by both teams, but it was one Zach Lutz error that resulted in the only two runs and cost the Herd the game. Pat Misch had runners at second and third with one out and get a enormous strikeout, but then Lutz missed the catch at first to end the inning and two runs scored. Lutz recovered to throw the runner [...]

Post Game: Mets Get Aced, Lose 3-1 To The San Fran Giants

Game Notes Tim Lincecum was the Ace the Mets only hear about as they usually have his number. However, tonight he limited the Mets to one run on four hits  as the Mets lost to San Francisco, 3-1, on Saturday night. Capuano showed a strong showing as well on the Mets side. Six innings with only four hits as well but allowed two to score. He also added in four walks and five Ks. The [...]
