What a great interview and a great choice of players. I agree with the guy who said the Mets need players. Josh Satin has proven time and again that he is a wonderful hitter and that he is committed to playing in the big leagues. You are talking about a guy who has hit well at every level. Hitting cannot be underestimated. He would make the Mets a much better team. He is smart, strong and seasoned. Bring him up!

Although Satin has always excelled at each level with the bat, the same cannot be said for his defense. He has hands and can catch balls hit at him ok, but he has no range, and is not particularly “quick”. His throwing arm is not very strong either. I have heard it said of Satin playing second base, that’s it’s “like he’s playing in quicksand”.

I have it on good authority that Flores will eventually be a third baseman in good time. The fact is that all lower level prospects are considered to be more valuable by virtue of being shortstops, even though many of them dont end up sticking. It’s a way of highlighting the player’s athleticism and gives them a higher profile in the organization and more trade value too.

This may seem like a dumb question, but considering the lack of depth this organization has had at second base for the last two decades, why was he drafted as a second baseman and then moved to all those other positions? It seems like the Mets are always doing questionable moves like this with their prospects. If you’re going to move anyone, move Flores who by all accounts is a liability at shortstop. Anyway, great interview Nicholas.
