It was a horrible call.I saw the replay.Noy any worse than the 2nd basemans blown call in last nites met game on a steal of second by the reds.The guy was out by 5 feet and the ump called him safe at 2nd.I hate to see replay in mlb expand to the bases, but the umps are pretty bad as a whole.The guy wuo called balls and strikes last nite was blind.

It’s Keith’s fault that he’s exaggerating Murphy’s defensive short comings. He actually does pretty well at 2B and 1B. Obviously, 1B belongs to Ike when he gets back, but if Murphy can play replacement level defense at 2B, we’ll be fine with him there.

Common sense is a myth and your eyes can deceive you, especially when combined with your faulty memory.

“He makes the routine palys look difficult and quite comical even if he makes the out. ”

But he makes the out, which is what counts. If you want to give points for style, go judge figure skating.

Now it’s Keith Hernandez’s fault that Murphy has brickhands. An umpteen time gold glove winner can’t share an opinion about a (I use the word loosely) “fellow” first baseman. It’s still George Bush’s fault too I guess? Murphy’s .984 feilding percentage is a joke. One must simply use their eyes and common sense to see he is awful with the glove. He makes the routine palys look difficult and quite comical even if he makes the out. At least he makes me laugh when balls are hit to him. I’m not used to comedy in my watching of baseball, so I guess that’s a plus.

des, i love his aggresiveness, but he’s a butcher, mind you he’s gotten better, but come on!! jeter made 6 errors last year, you’re going by that???? there were balls he didn’t even made attempt to make, he probably win it this year too, the AL SS position has become a total joke.. but back to murphy, the way he’a hitting i’d say: “who cares” the man is on fire!!!!

Keith Hernandez has turned into a ‘know it all’ announcer. Every question that Gary brings up about some player in the league is responded to by Keith with a prologue of how he did it. Keith has become boring. Tim McCarver isn’t the only blowhard behind the mike.

Daniel Murphy has made only 13 errors in three seasons, ten of which occurred in 2009 when he was learning 2B. Other than that season, Murphy has made only three errors. His overall fielding percentage is .984. Not too shabby.

That’s great! Let’s trade him to an american league team in need of a DH while he has some value. Senor’ brickhands as Keith Hernandez said the other night “has no position”. I love that he’s hitting, but again, the ball will find you. This team is going nowhere at .500 and should get something from an AL team for a guy, who I must admit is on fire. And at the right time, trade deadline time. But being a realist, I know that with Davis out for maybe the year, someone, albeit “brickhands” Murphy, must play first. Duda is no more than AAAA type player and Collins knows that.

Last night the Reds defense was awful and it rattled Cueto, however as you stated many times, “when not facing top flight pitching”, just to bring it to your attention Cueto had a 6-3 record with a 1.88 era – that’s NOT top flight? I’d like a guy in my rotation with a 1.88 era, but hey, that’s just me.

Let’s go mets!!!! great win last night, as stated by me many times, this offense when not facing top flight pitching can be really good, reyes has cooled off a bit, yet david, murphy and turner have picked up the slack, i don’t know what it is but we actually play BETTER on the road, jeez, also, the atlanta braves who are starving for offense have just put mccann (their best threat offensively) on the DL, this might be the break we were hoping for, NOW, we may see this as an opp to help the ballclub get better and add some players instead of just unloading them for “prospects”..
Murphy has been ON FIRE!!!!!! wow, i love ike davis, but wow, murphy’s become a great hitter, 3 more hits, the offense rolling, let’s get another win tonight boys!!!!!
