It’s too bad the Mets are going on a 10-game road trip after this homestand. Pelfrey’s next outing after tomorrow will be on Friday (the first game of the road trip). He’ll pitch twice on the road and won’t be due to pitch at Citi Field again until early August.

Thanks so much for the reply. I honestly had no idea Pelfrey was that good at home. Knowing that why dont they use that info to their advantage when they are able and try to use him less on the road and more at home. I know it depends on the schedule, but rather than send him out every 5th day like clockwork, maybe look ahead and try to align it so he gets 4-5 extra games at home a season that he wouldn’t otherwise. Something to think about.

I’m not as worried about Mike Pelfrey tomorrow because the game is at home. This year, Big Pelf’s record at Citi Field (3-0, 2.96 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, .220 batting average against) is much better than his road record (2-8, 5.77 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, .309 batting average against). That being said, after seeing Jon Niese’s performance today, I’d feel more comfortable with Capuano (a fellow lefty) on the mound than Pelfrey (a righty).

Those splits are incredible. We are in that guys head, and whenever we play the Phillies we have to hope and pray that Hamels is pitching. That said, is anybody else worried about winning the rubber game tomorrow with Pelfrey on the mound? That dude scares me!
