I’m pretty sure that tlagee’s comment was more about irony than anything else. He’s a pretty astute Met Fan and I’m sure he would be the first to tell you that one AB doesn’t cost a Series, and even if it did it with so many others to choose from it wouldn’t have been that one.

It’s crazy of anyone to hold one AB against anyone regardless of the circumstances. Beltran did have 3 HR’s in that Series. Only 10 times have a player hit more than 3 HR’s in a single Series and two of those 10 times were Beltran.

I think he’s going to the Braves for a number of reasons. The Braves have great pitching depth both in the minors and at the big club. They were counting on Nate McCloud coming back and filling in with some more power but he is like Bay. The young kid Jordan Schafer is good but still developing and Jason Heyward a real power hitter is in a slump. McCann and Alrx Gonzalez cannot carry this club but Hinske off the bench comes through for them but Chipper Jones is questionable based on his knee problems. So there youhave it. IU think they know Beltran could be the piece they need to catch the Phillies. Look for it to happen.

I totally agree with you man, he’s been so good for us it’s hard to think of a guy other than Straw who had so much talent and was a perennial all star. Despite his injuries, which he played through most of the time, people are really going to miss how good he was, sadly they really won’t fully understand how good of a player we had until he is gone.

It would be a real shame if Carlos, batting for the Phillies or Braves, makes the last out for them in the playoffs with the bat on his shoulder. Wouldn’t it?

I don’t care where he goes, I care what they get back. He’s been on the market long enough to know that whatever the Mets get, you have to trust it was the best offer on the table.

So worrying about who gets him is kind of ridiculous. I don’t care if Beltran makes the Phillies good for 2 months. I care what his return does for the future of this team

your right about that, that was not what I meant when I wrote the article. I mean if it’s the best offer on the table, then he should take it and not worry that he’s trading him inside the division.
