Great news Pete. I'm glad to see some of these young high school players coming into the system. That's the only way we're ever going to be able to field a team full of talented players IN THEIR PRIME, with adequate depth in the minors coming up behind them.

     Thanks for the report.

Dylan Owen looks like the second coming of Dillon Gee. They were drafted at the same time, came through the system together, have similar pitching styles, and after some growing pains, Owen looks like he is beginning to master AAA. He has now strung together 4 straight quality starts, dating back to June 20th, and is finding his nitch with some success in the league. Schwinden pitches tonite for Buffalo!

If you are a draft nudnik like me, you might be happy to know that even though it's NOT being reported be baseballamerica, I have found out that the Mets are in the process of signing their 6th round draft choice, a very promising highschool CF named Joe Tuschak. Here's an excerpt for the telling article in the Shippensburg Sentinel:

"But actually, the Mets were more than happy to come to terms with Tuschak.
"It was tough because I always wanted to go to Coastal Carolina since I was a kid," Tuschak said. "I love it down there, the whole coaching staff is great, but this was a life-changing thing to happen, so I took it.
"I was hesitant as soon as it happened. I had to let it sink in, and then I was like, ‘Yeah, this is what I’m going to do.’"
Tuschak will begin his career as a professional baseball player later this month or in early July.
After he signs his contract, he will report to New York’s Gulf Coast League team in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
"I think about it, and I’m like, ‘Wow, I’m going to be playing in the majors.’ That was my dream, and it’s finally come true," Tuschak said. "I’m just really excited. I’m still kind of speechless about it."
