Holy Thole, Beltran Bomb, And Pa-GONE In Mets 6-5 Walkoff Win

Game Summary

With the return of Beltran and Reyes, the Mets continue undefeated. Dickey pitched through a rough three run inning, bullpen was great, and some select few offensive players led the team to victory with a walk-off homerun from Pagan in extras. Mets in 6-5 in 10 innings.

Game Notes

Dickey must be thanking his lucky stars that the Mets still have Beltran tonight. With the backup of his offense, he survived the rocky third inning where he allowed three hurtful runs. Dicky with 93 pitches finished 6.1 innings with 8 hits and four runs. One run and four Ks round out his line. A no decision but his ERA rests at 3.80. Not the Dickey of yesteryear, but a decent pitcher.

Byrdak got his one out on one pitch. Beato got his one out on three pitches. Parnell looking to be the closer, gave up two hits and one run along with a walk and a K. IZZY! Wow! Two scoreless innings and struck out Pujols, Holliday, and Berkman in order. Say hello to your new closer this year.

Tonight’s offense was lead by a hitting pitcher, a new father, and a vet on borrowed time. Dickey had two hits and his first RBI, Thole had two hits, a double, two RBIs, and a run scored (all one day after his son, Camden, was born), and Carlos Beltran had one hit, a two-run bomb, and a walk. Of course, Angel Pagan had the walk-off homerun to win it in extras.

Reyes went 0-5 with a run. Turner, Murphy, and Duda each had one hit, and two walks for Duda.

Jason Bay left the game after three innings with tightness in his right hamstring. His replacement, Harris, went 0-3.

Beltran had Philly scouts in the ballpark again watching him. Him playing well has become a double-edge sword. The better he plays the more the Phillies want him. And the more they want him, the more the Phillies are willing to trade for him.

Justin Turner tweeted seven minutes after the Mets won. Dedication to his fans.

A fan ran on the field in the sixth. SNY did not show it, but at least we know they didn’t taze him. Here’s looking at you Philly scouts.

David Wright played in his sixth ML rehab game tonight for St. Lucie (A). He went 2-2 with two singles, two walks and a run scored. ETA is Friday.

  • Enjoy the win everybody! Once Alderson gets rid of Beltran there will be less of them. 100 loss seasons will be the norm come 2012.

    • Well, aren’t you just a ray of sunshine!

    • Always gotta be the negative nelly around here, don’t you?

    • Your crystal ball is quite cloudy and cracked.

    • Yeah And I bet last year you would have given up Beltran for nothing.

  • On a rare night where Reyes goes 0 for 5, his teammates step up to get a win.

Walk off Met wins are fun.

  • How about Izzy in the 9th and 10th?! Some big Ks there.

  • Gosh this team plays so much better with Reyes and Beltran in the line up! YEAH PAGAN!

  • Cardinal blow a 4-0 lead and lose 6-5 in the 10th in walkoff fashion with a Pagan HR. Then add Izz’y performance and new dad Thole’s performance as well. Combined with Beltran’s HR and you have what was one heck of a game.

    LGM!!!

  • Walk offs!

Congrats to Thole and being a father… That’s some pretty good new motivation for the kid. I enjoy watching us win. Izzy was very impressive.

  • A Mets farm system footnote. Reese Havens returned to the B-Mets lineup after coming off the disabled list. He went 3 for 5, with line drive singles to right field and center field. He also hit a double to center field. Defensively, he was the middle man on a 3rd-2nd-1st double play. Let’s hope he’s healthy now and shows why the Mets drafted him in the first round.

  • On the anniversary of the Moon landing, Angel sent one there himself.

And congrats Josh Thole! This one’s for Camden.

  • Better than comeback over Bucs, down 7-0.

    Wow, just wow!

No quit in our 2011 Mets. So much better than 09 and 10 Mets.

God, if we could o ly keep Beltran!!

This team can be good if only the pit hing improves; we can hit.

  • Great win!

  • Let’s go mets!!! great win!!!!! please watch on TV or go to the game if you can and bid CARLOS BELTRAN goodbye!!! as today will be his last home game as a met.. is a shame our owners are broke and our GM thinks of saving money first, winning last..
thank you carlos beltran, thanks for all the good and bad memories as a met, you were and will be for a long time the best CF the mets organization have ever had!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ironically, the best thing Beltran will do for the mets is to help them obtain a star for the future who leads them to a world series.Time for Alderson and Co. to earn their money.

    • let’s hope sandy’s track record in san diego don’t follow him here in NY, everything is microscope here, once they trade beltran for whoever it is, is going to be under the microscope big time, kinda like jeff kent..
