Red Hot Duda Gets The Call

As some suspected, the Mets will recall Lucas Duda from Triple-A Buffalo in time for tonight’s game against the Pirates,.
Duda will replace Nick Evans, who was designated for assignment last night.
Duda is batting .302 with 10 home runs and 24 RBI in 38 games/154 at-bats with Buffalo. In his last ten games, he’s hit .389 with 10 runs scored, four doubles, five home runs and 12 RBI.
Original Post
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets have designated Nick Evans for assignment and will announce a corresponding move tomorrow.
Evans, 25, did not have a hit in 12 at-bats with the Mets and hasn’t gotten much playing time with the hot hitting of Daniel Murphy and Justin Turner.
However, the Mets are in desperate need of some production from left field and I’m wondering if Lucas Duda will get the call tomorrow?
Duda has been on a tear in Buffalo and going into tonight’s game, he has seven homers in his last 14 games and an eight-game hitting streak.
In 37 games, Duda is batting .302 with a .404 OBP and .579 SLG in 152 at-bats.
We’ll update you as soon as we know something.

Would’ve been nice to see “Scott Hairston DFA’d” instead of Evans. Sure Evans hasn’t got a hit since he’s been up. But he’s younger and cheaper than Hairston and can play LF and RF probably as well as Hairston. Okay, so the Mets would have to eat the rest of Hairston’s $1 million salary. But it’s wasted capital anyway, so what are you really losing? Anyway, Duda probably is on his way back up. Hopefully he can make the most of this opportunity unlike earlier in the season. Good Luck Lucas.
For those who’d like to know is that while hitting .302 Lucas Duda has 10 HRs, 24 RBIs in those 152 ABs.
It’s a shame that people don’t want to list the important relevant stats for his hitters like these because HRs and RBIs are going to pay for Lucas Duda’s house and put his kids through college. Not his OBP, he’s not a 1 or 2 hitter.
As long as he’s getting hits to drive in runs and win games, he could be left on base at the end of an inning or game for all i care as long as he already got the knock to drive in runs. That’s why his OBP stat is less important because unless he hits a HR half the time he’s probably left standing on base anyway after getting his RBI hits.
Agree and Duda HAS shown he can put it over the fence at Citifield.
let’s see, 115 at bats 4 home runs
at citi field 63 at bats 3 home run
all that while not forgetting that in those 104 at bats, he’s hitting 183…
Lets Go Mets
allright.. let’s go mets!!!!!!
In 229 at bats at Citifield Jason Bay has hit 4 HR’s.
In 63 at bats at Citifield Lucas Duda has hit 4 HR’s.
I think Lucas has it figured it out a little better.
Jason is not hitting away either so in the two years he has been a Met POWER hitter he has 8 HR total. I am rooting for him to start doing better, but 8 HR’s. at $16 million a year. So far he has 8 HR’s for about $24 million in his career for us.
Again Alex, I am not sure WHO you root for, team or just some players.
Bay should just admit it and drop an ounce or two (unless he already has) and go to a lighter bat so he can get it there in time. Get on the plate, get the barrel through, stay back and go to RF and look first pitch FB. He’s had a ton of first pitch strikes that he’s taken and then swung at worse pitchers.
That’s your sample, Alex?
SHeesh, give the next Greg the The Bull Luzinski a chance!!!
He should see Mike Schmidt 1st year stats. And NO I am not comparing Duda to Schmidt.
Batted .196 in 367 at bats.
22,
you starting to remind me of a certsain someone in this blog who thinks knows it all and is nothing but a j/a.. why would you use schmidt and duda in the same sentence? that’s just flat out disrespectful!!!!
somebody should edit your coments before you post them bro. they make no sense.
Sorry did not mean to disrespect Duda:)
68, Just a fan of team since 1964, but I am looking for positives, not negatives. Do I know it all, of course not. Hope we have a better season so we all enjoy.
Get advise – now take your own.
Deserves to be up here and in LF.
Lucas The Bull!
Unveiling, perhaps, the Mets next major power hitter since Delgado.
Actually that’s already been unveiled as Ike Davis. If Ike did not get hurt he was on his way to a 35-40 HR year.
Maybe; Davis certainly has hit some bombs. Okay, then let’s hope Duda is the second.
I hope they play Duda every day this time around. If not Left Field, then 1st base (Move Murph to 3rd when Turner needs a day off). We need as much pop as we can get in this lineup. I hope Collins bats Duda after Beltran at the cleanup spot.
Agreed, What is the use of bringing him up if he is going to ride the bench.
the red hot dudas gets the call”
again, i am not trying to be negative, but…. 19-104.
also, he’s hot at triple A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can we please wait to see if he’s not OVERMATCH AGAIN!
No, because that gets in the way with my prediction that he’s going to be a HOFer.
lmao.. good one.. at least you got a sense of humor russell.
seriously, at this point i get you platoon LF, have pridie, duda and bay play twice a week.. i don’t get why mets fans fall in love with mediocre players like duda. no offense to anyone, but this guy is just a big guy who has no discipline, swings hard and try to hit hr every swing while nt doing squat..
Maybe they called him up to get at-bats and get comfy before they trade someone.
