I thought it was a particularly bad pitch to bunt and I think Keith made reference to the fact that Murph should have realized that and not stretched his lead. Let’s face it—Murph is a little short in the baseball brains departmenta–like Angel is. It is just that Murph seems to make his mistakes at crucial times.

Just saying, other than R.A. Mets pitchers have got to do a better job bunting runners over cause if they can’t hit then at least they can make their at bats a plus with moving runners over.
I understand that their main concern is pitching and getting ready for next start but come on how hard is it to work on bunting the ball fair?

how about pelfrey’s not bunting a ball PERFECTLY to bunt!!!
yes, murphy blunder goes noticeable the most, but pelfrey had the PERFECT pitch to just bunt it down!! learn fundamentals!
good game by him.. too many off speed pitches at the beginning cost him at least a run. also, give the pirates credit, the played well, good catch in the 8th by tabata to me save the game, it turn a what could’ve been a 2-1 game with men on first & second with NO OUTS, to a 2-1 game 2 outs and nobody on..

the mets were in Getaway Day mode, swinging early in the ocunt. How many pitches did Paulino see all night. Too many easy at-bats for Maholm. I have a question: did any of the announcers actually pull out a rule book and check what obstruction is? Bobby O seemed to have a completely different interpretation of the urle than the guys in the booth. A little research might have helped.

This game illustrates that no matter how many singles hitters and speed you have, w/o a HR threat in your lineup or on the bench you have to hope that more than 2 or 3 guys get get hits instead of having a walk or hit and a HR to quickly get you ahead or back in the game.

Tough loss for Pelf, he has looked better lately with his off speed pitches and might have 2 or 3 more wins if not for BP and lack of hitting.

Bay continues to struggle and it is getting so everyone is sorry for the kid, younger than me, but he is paid to produce and his continued strikeouts in key situations is getting to be drain, you don’t see too much confidence when he comes up with runners on or in scoring positiion.
This is a tough call for Terry and SA and how to handle this situation especially cause he is an everyday player not a pitcher that you can bury in BP or goes every 5 days.

The Bay enigma needs to be solved cause it could be the reason Mets don’t finish over .500 w/o David or Ike there to provide some pop in lineup.

Pagan, Murphy, Duda, Harris what a shame that the hitters that could be hitting 4th are either hurt or not hitting.

My worst Yankee Nightmare is coming true. Jeter will go on the 15 day D/L on 6/14/
Which would make him eligble to return 6/29 vs. Millwaukee. Which means he will have
Five games to get Six hits. His 3000th hit will be on 7/3 at Citi Field. Rivera getting his 500th ave there was bad enough. Of course his 3000th hit will be a game winner too.
It will probalby be a ball hit to MURPHY that should have been ruled an error.
I dont know why I hate the YANKEES so much.. I think I need therapy!

Good start for Pelf even though he had mostly fly ball outs and took the loss.

Not sure about Pelf sharing that game ball. Yes, he continues to hit and get on base but it would be nice if he actually didn’t cost himself a base and the Mets an out with his base running at times.
