SImple but effective recap. Thanks.

Niese is the real deal. I was fairly convinced of this last year in a game against Marlins when he shut them down through seven. As others have noted, he is kind of Koosmanesque. Really mixes pitches well, control in play more often than not, and when it is he rarely is hard hit. He is also a good K pitcher. Definitely an important future piece of a very solid rotation with Dillon Gee. RIght now either Pelf or Capuano are weakest links, and they still are not pitching badly at all. If our SP can give us more games with seven inn complete, we will win a lot more.

Filled with anticipation for Gee tonight. Just hoping the success continues.

The understated tale of last night's game was both the underachievements of the Mets in scoring runs (at one point one of the Brewers annoucers said, "Certainly seems like the score should be 9-1 with all of the chances the Mets have had to break this open."), and the fact that the Brew Crew was always hanging around and fighting. On the other hand, they only have two threatening--really threatening batsmen in Braun and Fielder.

Braun almost killed us again w/ a laser to left that just about eluded a speeding Pridie--hell of a good play, Jason. WOuld the other Jason have had that one?

As for Professor Reyes, what to say. Oh, I know, he's actually human.

I will just comment on Tejada; beginning to love this baby-faced 2Bman. My God, he plays one helluva defense, and so far his hitting is just fine. How great is it not to groan when the eighth man in the order steps to the plate!

Who knows what happens tonight, but this was a wonderful series that was marred by the fact that we snatched a loss from the jaws of a sweep. Not only did we beat the team with the best home record in all of baseball in their park, we chased their ace by the fifth inn. Love the way our Metsies bounced right back after a pretty devastating loss on Wed.

Oh, and did I mention the Yank-offs were swept away again by Big Papi and the rest of their Boston Daddy's. How appropriate for Daddy's Day!

Even the Scrubby Cubs stole one in 11 from the Filth in Loserdelphia.

Let's get to .500 and celebrate!!!

Let's GO Mets!
