AAA IS real competition. The 2nd most difficult competition in the sport. If he controls his strikeouts he has a better than even chance to be an above average ML outfielder.

Sure alex. Kirk is already considered a plus defender and we all know that defense translates 100% from the minors to the majors. As for the rest of his game, I found a great capsule from Jonathan Mayo who lives and breathes this stuff.

Sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Nieuwenhuis can do a little bit of everything on the field — he’ll hit for average, he has a bit of power and he has a little speed — but none of the tools will jump out at you. He plays the game the right way, and his effort helps him maximize his abilities on the field. Nieuwenhuis is just about ready to help out in New York, and he’ll head to Triple-A — waiting for that call.

That was written during spring training.

Kirk is now batting .306/.408/.522 this season. I see him as having a Paul O’Neill type career if all breaks right for him.

I don’t know of anyone who has tabbed Nieuwenhuis as a future superstar. He isn’t even considered a top five Mets prospect. But most scouts agree he will be solid major leaguer.

“captain kirk” another overhype met player who mets fans like because he has a cool name and ppl wanna peg him as a superstar… don’t bring him up to get expose and use him in a package along with certain someone #5, to get pitching…
