The record according to Baseball reference is 36 by Chief Wilson in 1912. Most recent active player is Granderson to eclipse 20 was back in 2007, when he 23. Reyes had 19 in 2008.

Bay will hit eventually. A player just doesn’t offensively produce consistently over the years like he has and then just; stop. 11 triples!! And it’s not even the All-Star break! Holy Crap! I remember as a kid looking at the back of baseball cards and thinking 6-9 triples in a year was fantastic! Reyes could conceivably hit 25 triples this year! What’s the record? Anyone know off-hand?

I thought for sure your title was simply meant to attract attention, but sadly I am wrong. That’s pretty unbelievable and I dont know if it illustrates how great Reyes is, how bad Bay is or both.
