Those Joisey fans that you are talking about, are “bandwagon” jumpers or “fair weather” fans…When I went to college in central Jersey from ’84 to ’87, everyone that I came across was a Mets “fan” and “hated” the Yanks and the Phils (both the Phils and Yankees were 2nd rate teams during those years)…Kind of like how Billy Crystal showed up for the ’86 World Series in all Mets apparel proclaiming to be a “lifelong Mets fan” on National tv; and then in ’00 was at the Subway World Series dressed in all Yankees apparel proclaiming to be a “lifelong Yankee fan” on National tv…when the tides turn, so do the alleged “fans” allegiances…
