He didn't come out of nowhere...he came from the same place they all come from!
The problems is the guys who do the write ups on who is a "PROSPECT" and who isn't (like Baseball America) obviously look only at the things that don't really matter when it comes to winning.

Throw 95 MPH your a prospect, Deemed to have the "STUFF" (Note the label it says everything you need to know about thier evaluation doesn't it?)

What people (and many pitchers) need to realize is it isn't about how far your curveball breaks, how fast your fastball goes, how much your Slider slides or your sinker sinks, It's about knowing HOW to pitch, How to approach a batter and how to get him to think one thing is coming and then throwing something else!

Gee does that and while many might think he came out of nowhere the truth is they just ignore players like him because of some dumb notion that you have to have one GOOD pitch to pitch in the MLB.

Gee is the kind of guy you want in your rotation. The Rick Reed, Greg Maddox type. No he doesn't have a 90+ fastball, but as guys like Reed, Maddox, Ojeda (and now Gee) showed us you don't really need one of those to win a lot of games!

Every guy with STUFF is at some point going to LOSE his stuff! And when that happens he is going to have to learn how to pitch the way Gee is now!

The guy just gets it done!

Fred was right. Jose Reyes won't get Carl Crawford money, he's worth much more. At least Jose will still be close to home swiping bases and being a catalyst for the Yankees or Braves. I bet he can even hit 20 home runs a year hitting in those parks. I see at least one MVP in Reyes' future once he shakes the dust of Flushing off of him.

If only Big Pelf could get on track and pitch good consistently and Bay started hitting, then we could get over 500 and go somewhere.
