More LOB is a good thing, it means that you are getting more opportunities to drive them in. Furthermore, there is very little correlation between runs scored and number of runners LOB, with whatever little correlation being positive, meaning more LOB= more runs scored.

i want to point out certain things, i don't want to be a downer, i am very excited for this team, but i am very skeptical about today's game, not because is verlander, but because is pelfrey pitching for us, knowing he'll go against verlander prob has him thinking since last week about this game, worst, we're doing good and he'd be pressure to cont the winning streak to 5, the more pressure it is, the quicker he folds, just like a few caracters we've had over the years, some met players just can't handle the pressure or big stage, guys like pelfrey, maine, wright are the perfect examples.
head cases, i hope for a win, but if we lose i saw it coming 5 days ago,
also, in my entire life i have never seen a time that can just hit you to death like this team, they know they won't hit hr's so they outhit you, not a great recipe but is working, hudgens has made guys like murphy & co look like all star hitting wise, making the whole lineup take a better approach, line drives and not trying to hit hr, making their swing shorter, that equals getting pitchers to adjust their game plan because they won't strike out many batters as the whole lineup (other than bay) is contact driven..
saber sandy must be mad as hell, watching the team play great must be drive him nuts, as i am sure he was expecting to do a san diego/oakland type of sell out, but now he must earn his money and help this team at the deadline the way minaya never did. life is good as a mets fans (unless you hate reyes as someone i know in this site does)

They're also 3rd in team batting AVG at .261 and 2nd in league in team LOB at 588. So that's 588 runners left on base so a lot of that OBP is just staying on base not scoring too.

A lot of that though is timely hitting driving in big runs because converting those baserunner into RBI's is still the meal ticket my friend. RBIs. And Mets are getting a LOT of timely CLUTCH hitting.

Hitting is still the most important thing but it's also good that we have a new batting coach because a lot of us were saying here last year that we did not like Hojo's approach as a lot of the players took on his style of hitting and that's not good. So that's nothing clever or sabermetric about that. We just needed a better hitting coach and he's able to get his ideas across.

Oh, and you guys need to get off Francoeur and Barajas backs already. Frenchy is not having a bad year so far and you don't know how he would have responded with this hitting coach. And Barajas too and don't forget while Barajas was here last year he helped until he stopped hitting, maybe his approach would be different here too although NOBODY can complain about Paulino's hitting. But Barajas is still the better receiver. Oh and forget Cora because EVERYBODY knew Cora can't hit anyway so his OBP doesn't matter because he can't hit

16-9? I mean what is that a Football score?

A win is a win though and don't look now but the Mets are now 2 games above .500
